Hangzhou Public Culture Center and Hangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center (referred to as “Two Cultural Centers”) are large-scale public welfare comprehensive modern public cultural facilities built by Hangzhou. They have been listed as part of “Top Ten New Cultural Landmarks” project of Hangzhou. Hangzhou Public Culture Center has a planned construction area of about 33,400 square meters, and mainly features functional spaces for literary and art training, performance and exhibition, reading and exchange, leisure and healing, digital experience, light food market, etc. The Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center has a planned construction area of about 22,600 square meters, and mainly features functional spaces for intangible cultural heritage performance, cultural exchange, master workshop, study experience, cultural and creative entertainment, etc. Regarding“Two Cultural Centers”, efforts will be made to achieve a dynamic and modern venue operation mode, and create a digital cultural tourism practice space, an international exchange space for intangible cultural heritage and a lifelong aesthetic education classroom for all citizens.

The sculpture is located at the bend of the Qijia River, facing the towering city gate. Jade Cong features a mirrored stainless steel inner wall with water ripple patterns, evoking the poetic imagery of the water surface shimmering under the moonlight. It forms a small shimmering “Moon Gate” across the river from the massive H-shaped city gate. This “Moon Gate” borrows the Liangzhu identity of the jade cong and its image of a square exterior and a round interior, forming a time-space channel and humanistic poetry spanning 5,000 years from history to the future.

The lotus symbolizes auspiciousness and virtue, and represents the noble qualities of dignity, integrity and magnanimity. As the lotus blooms, it simultaneously nurtures its fruit. The sculpture features a contras between the plumpness of the lotus seeds and the texture of the lotus pod. This embodies the causal relationship between the past, present and future, reflecting a profound contemplation on the cycle and rebirth of all things.

Hangzhou Asian Games Museum has an exhibition area of about 5,400 square meters and is divided into three exhibition halls: Asian Games and Hangzhou, Asian Games and Asia, Asian Games and the Future. It comprehensively showcases more than 70 years of history and humanity imprint of the Asian Games, and becomes an important window for narrating Asian Games history, inheriting sports culture and promoting sportsmanship.

Located in the core area of Qianjiang Century City, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou Century Center has a total floor area of 300,000 square meters. The complex consists of two 310 meters high twin towers, a podium and several other buildings. Its modern and technological architectural style reflects the city’s modernization process and booming economy.

Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Tennis Centre, known as the “Small Lotus”, is located on the south bank of the Qiantang River. Its petal modelling design includes 24 “small petals” and 8 rotating “large petals”. It features the world’s first “rotating opening-closing” roof that can be adjusted based on weather conditions. Completed in 2021, it served as the tennis venue for the 19th Asian Games.

Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, known as the “Big Lotus”, is located in the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center on the south bank of the Qiantang River. It was the main venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games. It is a landmark project symbolizing Hangzhou’s transition from the “West Lake Era” to the “Qiantang River Era”, as well as a key provincial project and iconic structure in Zhejiang Province. The stadium covers an area of 430 mu, with a building height of 59.4 meters and a total floor area of 216,000 square meters. It consists of six above-ground floors and two underground floors, with a seating capacity of 80,800.

Binjiang Olympic Sports Centre Commercial Area (named “Chezlotus”) is located in the underground commercial street of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre venue, covering about 200,000 square meters. The first underground level of the commercial area is about 103,000 square meters (with a leasable area of 55,000 square meters), while the second underground level covers 97,000 square meters (providing 2,550 parking spaces). It can accommodate nearly 180 brands.

Located in the northwest corner of the Binjiang Olympic Sports Centre Scenic Area, Torch Park covers about 10,000 square meters. It is the most significant outdoor landscape node in the scenic area and a key carrier of Hangzhou Asian Games culture display in outdoor space. Torch Park will recreate the display scene of the Asian Games main torch tower and the overall lifting display screen from the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Asian Games, showcasing the stage spatial effects of the “digital human” by integrating lighting interactive facilities. Meanwhile, the park will integrate the design concept of “tide” across various spatial dimensions, presenting the finest torch landscape and tide culture scenery by combining elements such as landscape walls, steps, understory spaces, flower border nodes and light projection.
